Abstract:

The Campus of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is one of the most important summer institution camps in Greece. The aim of the present study was to investigate the quality of the services provided at the University campus (located at Chalikidiki peninsula, in Poseidi). Four hundred and forty nine individuals (49.9% men and 50.1% women) that stayed at the campus during the summer season of 2009 participated in the study. Alexandris et al (2004a) service quality questionnaire was used. The results revealed five service quality dimensions: PerceivedOutcome (4.35), responsiveness (3.20), tangibles (3.79), reliability (3.82) and personnel (3.59). Statistical significant differences where revealed between the age groups and the occupation of the campers in all five service quality dimensions. The age group of 18 to 29 years old and the occupancy group students where the ones presented the lowest mean scores. Statistical significant differences were also revealed between the family status of the campers in the reliability, responsiveness, tangibles and Perceived outcome dimensions, were the singles presented the lowest mean scores at the first three dimensions. The probability of returning back at the University campus was predicted only by the Perceived outcome dimension (Beta=.50, t=10.18, p<.001). The findings of the present study have shown the significance of investigating the service quality that the University campus provides, in order help the campus organizing committee to retain and provide high standards according to the camper’s expectations.
